Definition

One of the most popular game genres on Roblox — simulator games let players pretend to do real or fantastical activities by clicking or tapping repeatedly to progress. Examples include Pet Simulator 99 (collect and level up pets), Mining Simulator (dig for ore and sell it), and Bee Swarm Simulator (grow a beehive). Most simulators are idle or semi-idle: you do a repetitive action, earn currency, and spend it on upgrades. The loop is deliberately addictive, and many simulator games use limited-time events, exclusive items, and battle passes to drive spending.

Note for Parents

Simulator games are generally safe content-wise, but the mechanics are specifically designed to be habit-forming. Limited-time events, exclusive pets, and daily login rewards are all designed to keep players coming back repeatedly. Many also have Robux-gated upgrades. If your child is playing a simulator obsessively, it's worth checking whether the game uses these mechanics — and having a conversation about daily time limits.
