technicalCommon Term
RNG
R-N-G
Definition
'Random Number Generation' — the luck system behind random rewards: egg hatches, fruit spins, loot crates, and whole luck-based games like Sol's RNG. A low 'drop rate' means a rare result is unlikely on any single try, which is what keeps players (and wallets) pulling again.
Example Usage
“The RNG in this game is brutal — I've opened 200 eggs and still no legendary.”
Note for Parents
RNG itself is neutral, but it's the engine under loot-box and gacha spending. When real progress is gated behind RNG and you can buy more attempts with Robux, that's the gambling-shaped mechanic worth a spend limit and a quick conversation. See Crate / Loot Box and Gacha.
