Definition
In Roblox, ping is the time it takes for your device to send a signal to the game server and receive a response, measured in milliseconds (ms). Low ping means fast, responsive gameplay. High ping (called 'lag') means a noticeable delay between pressing a button and something happening in-game. Ping is affected by your internet connection quality, distance from the server, and how many devices share your Wi-Fi. You can check your Roblox ping by pressing Shift+F5 in-game — under 100ms is good; above 200ms starts to feel sluggish; 500ms+ makes the game nearly unplayable.

“My ping is 20ms so I have no lag — my ping last night was 400ms and I kept dying.”
Note for Parents
When your child complains about 'ping' or 'high ping', they're not making excuses — a bad connection genuinely makes games harder to play fairly. If they mention ping constantly, it may be worth checking your router or asking your internet provider about your connection quality.
